Your privacy matters to us. This Privacy Policy explains how Rivolu LLC ("we," "us," or "our") handles information in connection with WindTrac (the "App"), available as an iOS app and as a web app. The short version: WindTrac has no user accounts and collects no personal profile data, and your preferences, saved locations, and downloaded offline data stay on your device. By using WindTrac, you agree to the practices described here.

No Accounts, No Profiles

WindTrac does not have sign-up, sign-in, or user accounts. We do not ask for your name, email address, or any other profile information to use the App, and we do not maintain a user profile about you on our servers. There is no user-generated content, no photo upload, and no social features.

Information Stored On Your Device

WindTrac stores the following locally on your device (in app storage on iOS, or in your browser's local storage and IndexedDB for the web app) — not on our servers:

  • App preferences — your selected layers, forecast models, units, time-zone display preference, and similar settings.
  • Saved locations — the places you choose to save and return to.
  • Downloaded offline data — regions and forecasts you download for offline use (WindTrac Pro).

Because this data lives on your device, you can remove it at any time by deleting the App or clearing your browser's site data for WindTrac.

Location

WindTrac can use your device's location for two purposes only:

  • To center the map on your current location; and
  • To determine the time zone of a viewed location, which is reverse-geocoded on your device using Apple's frameworks.

Your location is not sent to or stored on WindTrac or Rivolu servers, and we do not track your location in the background. You can use the App without granting location access by panning the map manually, and you can change location permission at any time in your device or browser settings.

Forecast and Basemap Data

To draw the map, WindTrac fetches forecast data from our content delivery network (CDN) and basemap map tiles and glyphs from a map-tile provider. These requests deliver map content to your device; we do not attach any personal identifier to them, and we do not share personal information with the underlying weather data providers. The forecast data we publish is derived from public sources — NOAA (GFS, GFS-Wave), DWD (ICON-EU), and ECMWF (AIFS, IFS HRES, and wave models). As with any internet service, the servers that deliver this content may receive standard network metadata (such as your IP address) as a necessary part of routing the response.

Subscriptions and Payments

WindTrac Pro subscriptions are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store and StoreKit, and the subscription paywall is presented by Superwall. WindTrac does not receive or store your payment details. Superwall processes device and usage data necessary to display and measure paywalls; its practices are described in Superwall's Privacy Policy. Apple's handling of your purchase is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

Website Analytics

Our marketing website (windtrac.app) uses Vercel Web Analytics, a privacy-friendly analytics service that measures aggregate page views and visits without cookies and without collecting personally identifiable information. We use it only to understand general website traffic.

No Advertising or Ad Tracking

WindTrac contains no advertising and no third-party advertising or cross-app tracking SDKs. We do not access the iOS advertising identifier (IDFA), we do not build advertising profiles, and we do not sell or rent personal information.

Children's Privacy

WindTrac is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Because the App does not collect personal profile data, it does not knowingly collect such information from anyone.

International Data Transfers

Rivolu LLC is based in the United States, and the infrastructure we use to operate WindTrac — including our content delivery network and website hosting — may process requests in the United States and other regions. If you use WindTrac from outside the United States, any network metadata involved in delivering content to you may be processed in the United States, where data-protection laws may differ from those of your home country.

Your Rights (GDPR / CCPA)

Privacy laws such as the EU/UK GDPR and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) give you rights to access, correct, or delete personal information that a business holds about you. Because WindTrac has no accounts and does not hold personal data tied to your identity on our servers, there is typically nothing for us to access, correct, or delete on our side. You remain in control of the data stored on your device:

  • Clear your saved locations, preferences, and offline downloads by deleting the App (iOS) or clearing the WindTrac site data in your browser (web).
  • Change or revoke location permission in your device or browser settings.

We do not sell or "share" personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as defined by the CCPA. If you have any questions or wish to make a privacy request, contact us at admin@rivolu.com and we will respond as required by applicable law.

Links to Other Sites

Our App and website may link to external sites and services (such as the App Store, Superwall, and public weather agencies) that we do not operate. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of those sites; please review their own policies.

Security

We use commercially reasonable measures to protect the limited data involved in operating WindTrac. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post any changes on this page and update the "Last updated" date above. Changes are effective when posted.
